A Love Story Rooted in History: Celebrating a Wedding at Balaga
There’s something magical about tying the knot in a place steeped in family history. For this couple, their wedding venue was more than just a beautiful location; it was a cornerstone of their family’s story, dating back to the late 1860s.
Proposal off the beaten track in Fiji
Nic called me one week before his holiday with Ali in Fiji. It was a bit of a last minute photo session but worked beautifully! He wanted to surprise her with a proposal but didn’t want anyone around. We talked about different locations and Heaven’s Peak, about one hour from Denarau made sense.
Surprise proposal in Natadola beach, Fiji
Mustafa and Simone during their well-deserved holidays in Fiji (after two Covid years in Melbourne filled with endless lockdowns…) wanted to do a couple photo sessions. Simone had a vison with some hot/sexy shots along the beach, split shots (over/under) and a few underwater for herself (Mustafa being not very confident under).
Pre-wedding Photo session in the Fijian countryside
A travelling couple, Vida from the Philippines and Zack from the States met two years ago. During their stop in Fiji they wanted a scenic pre-wedding couple photo session in the Fijian countryside. It took them to the hilltop in the Nadi backroads. A special location, almost one hour from Denarau island on the mountain of the sleeping Giant.
Elopement in Savusavu, Fiji
Sonja and Thomas are German Nationals based in Bejing. They decided after ten years together to tie the knot.
They chose the intimate Emaho resort, near the town of Savusavu on the magnificent Vanua Levu Island, where they were above the clouds, the sea, river and forest. The sun shined for the ceremony.
Wedding at “The Olives trees domain”
One year before their wedding Audrey and Stefan contacted me and I got totally charmed by their story. I could feel how deep their love is. They tell us about their story with poetry, then answer to my questions about their wedding. They give us plenty of precious information for future brides and grooms. The photographs following this interview testify in detail of a happy and beautiful day.
Photoshoot at Nakawaga Waterfall, Savusavu, Fiji
Bettina and Joe came all the way from Germany to discover the Fiji Islands and to celebrate their wedding at Koro Sun Resort. The day before they tied the knot we went to Nakawaga Waterfall for a pre-wedding photo session. It was a great way to get to know each other and was a lot of fun.
Wedding at Koro Sun, Fiji
Jason and Alexis’ ceremony was held among the spectacular and majestic ancient trees of Koro Sun’s lush forest. They kept us dry and made us forget about the rain. In Fiji they say that it’s a blessing when it rains on your wedding day. It didn’t stop me documenting the day and we created moody-romantic-dramatic images at sunset.
Wedding at the Warwick, Fiji
A few tears, the best of friends, a stunning venue and lots of love That was Beini and Jason’s wedding at the Warwick. ( A 5 star luxury resort along the Coral Coast of Fiji’s mainland). After a powerful ceremony the couple wanted to get a few “edgy” photos, rather than the classic (but always beautiful) beach vibe. So we went to a run down building and among the grown herbs made use of the different textures on the walls marked by the time.
Couple in the Fijian country
On a beautiful evening at sunset we had a wonderful engagement photo session with a couple very much in love. They wanted something other than the beach… As ever; Fiji, being a treasure, serves up hundreds of gorgeous photogenic options.
Elopement at Karekare Beach, Auckland
Aurelie and Olivier came all the way from France to get married in New Zealand. The couple are lovers of the great outdoors, they exchanged their vows at the wild Karekare Beach; (west Auckland, New Zealand) an incredibly raw landscape. Only Carla, the celebrant, and her assistant were there to witness the union between the two lovebirds.
Wedding at the Boissy Domain with bucolic theme
Here is a day where the bride and groom made sure that every detail was perfect, so everyone including them could just enjoy the celebration of their union. They tell us about the process to create that day. The images also testify how much love and time they gave to make this party happen.
An Intimate Home Wedding
Amanda and Vincent have a lot of friends and a big family. They did not want to have to choose among them because of a budget restriction. They wanted an authentic wedding, their own: ”A beautiful and big party, where we dance until dawn, where we have fun from start to finish.”
Wedding at Pranemoux castle, France
Alexis and Vincent had a mixed cultured wedding : She is American and he is French. As a bilingual photographer it felt good to be able to switch from one language to another. Their dream was “a small wedding in a big castle.” It was perfect.
Pre-wedding in Te Anau
Pansy and John came all the way from China to enjoy the Aotearoa summer and for an intimate pre wedding photo shoot. The two were playful, fun, partners in crime, in love… We went to different locations around Te Anau such as the Manapouri lake (maori for “lake of the sorrowing heart”), Te Anau Downs and some more secret valleys and rivers along the road to Milford Sounds.
A wedding without guests
Laure and Cyril travelled across the world to visit New Zealand and decided to get married during their trip. Only the celebrant and two witnesses attended the ceremony. And me of course, to capture this intimate and quite unique wedding.
Mission Estate Winery Wedding
Richard and Leteisha had a stunning wedding at the Mission Estate Winery in Napier, New Zealand. Their friends and family graced the event and we captured amazing moments throughout the whole day. I asked Leteisha what it takes to pull off a successful and stress-free wedding as the bride. Read the interview below to get tips on how to chose the right people to help plan your wedding, to make sure you stay calm and relaxed on your big day.
